hopital rossoOur project entitled " Therapeutic loyalty program for people with tuberculosis who are lost to follow-up and sensitization of the population of the municipality of Tékane in Mauritania ”consists, in the field, of:

  • train community workers who will be responsible for picking up patients who do not follow their treatment on a regular basis at home, to encourage and help them to continue. This local action is not provided by the PNLTL (National Program for the Fight against Tuberculosis and Leprosy), but it will fit perfectly into its national policy;

  • Train community workers
  • organize awareness-raising sessions and IEC activities (Information, Education, Communication) or educational talks, sometimes theatrical performances, centered on the fight against Tuberculosis, HIV / AIDS and malaria;
  • recover tuberculosis patients who are lost to follow-up and retain cooperative patients by encouraging them to continue their treatment for the eight to twelve months necessary for their recovery.

On the occasion of the execution of the program in Mauritania, Marie Varloteaud student at the Institute of Public Health of Epidemiology and Development in Bordeaux, went to Mauritania to 6 months starting the April 5 2012 in order to prepare the launch of the said project. Among other things, it will be responsible for carrying out an inventory of the treatment of tuberculosis in the municipality (read the program).
